Miscellaneous Information
Stanley was born at Caron, Saskatchewan on 26 September 1914. His father, a farmer, was born at Ontario and his mother was born at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He had two married sisters and four brothers. Benjamin and Cameron, also Clayton who was in the RCAF and Gordon Roy, a flying officer who was also in the RCAF overseas. He attended Caron Public school between 1920 and 1928 followed by Caron High 1928-1934. Between 1934-1939 he worked at home on the family farm and then became a cement finisher for Bird Construction Co., at Regina, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on 19 May 1942. |
After enlisting and training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Halifax on 23 June 1943, arriving at 3 PRC on 2 July. He was then at 6 (0) AFU 24 August 1943, 30 OTU 27 September 1943, 11 Base 18 January 1944 and 101 Squadron 12 April 1944. Sadly Stanley was to lose his life from there on 25 May 1944. |
