Miscellaneous Information
Albert was born on 16 December 1923 at Toronto, Ontario. His father worked as a butcher and was born at Toronto, his mother was born at Orangeville. He had a brother Edward Frank who was at S.F.T.S. The schools he attended were Pape Avenue, Public between 1928-1936 (grade 8) followed by Riverdale Collegiate 1936-1941 (grade 13)- both in Toronto. Albert enjoyed swimming and skating with an occasional game of tennis and he could type and drive a car. Between 1941-1942 Albert worked for his father, Ed Handley, as a clerk and then enlisted on 10 December 1942. |
After enlisting and initial training, Albert was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 27 February 1945. He arrived at 3 PRC on 8 March 1945 then went to 4(0) AFU on 20 March 1945, and 22 OTU on 17 April 1945. Sadly Albert lost his life on 28 May 1945. |
