Miscellaneous Information
Bailed out but was captured by the Gestapo. Taken to Natzweiler-Struthof extermination camp, Northern France, where he was executed by hanging. His 'dog tag' was discovered in an ash pit in the grounds of the camp in 2018. His captor, Peter Straub, and three accomplices from Struthof-Natzweiler were tried, found guilty and sentenced to death after the ending of hostilities. Straub was hanged on 11th October 1946 with one of his accomplices. The other two had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment. |
