Miscellaneous Information
Albert was born at Vancouver, British Columbia on 2 March 1916. His parents were both born in Iceland, his father now deceased was a longshoreman. The schools he attended were McBride Public 1922-1929, South Vancouver High 1929-1930 (general) and Vancouver Technical School 1930-1931 (General). His sport interests were baseball, bowling, and football. Between 1934-1937 Albert worked for Whelen Sheet Metal, Vancouver as a furnace installer. Then he was house painting for Holbein's, Vancouver and lastly he was a Rough carpenter for J.C.Mitten, Vancouver for about five months in 1939. |
He enlisted on 16 August 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 23 June 1943. He arrived at 3PRC on 2 July 1943, 81 OTU on 9 July, and then on to 1656 CU in August 1943 before reaching 103 Squadron on 12 October 1943. Sadly he lost his life the following month on 26 November 1943. |
