Miscellaneous Information
Arthur was born at Chauvin, Alberta on 17 November 1918. His father, a garage proprietor, was born in England and his mother in Ontario. He had a brother James and sister Kathleen. He attended Chauvin School between 1925-1933 (grade 8) then continued 1933-1936 for grade (11). His sport interests were billiards, baseball, hockey and badminton. Between 1936-1941 Arthur worked for his father at his garage as a helper and manager. He then enlisted on 28 November 1941. |
When Arthur had finished training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from New York on 23 November 1942 arriving at 3PRC on 1 December 1942. He was then at 6 AOS 2 March 1943, 81 OTU 13 April 1943, 18 OTU 12 July 1943, 1667 CU 5 October 1943, and 626 Squadron on 11 December 1943. Sadly a few weeks later on 14 January 1944, Arthur was to lose his life. |
