Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born at Dawson Creek, British Columbia on 8 September 1920. Both parents were born in the USA, his father was a farmer and gunsmith born in Nebraska and his mother was born in Iowa. The schools he attended were Saskatoon Creek, 1929-1934 and Dawson Creek between 1935-1940 (Jnr. Matric). He enjoyed most sports including softball, basketball, skiing and skating as well as hunting and fishing. His main hobby was photography. He spent about six months general work, (1939/1940) at J.L. Patterson’s store in Dawson Creek,and then enlisted on 10 October 1940. |
After enlisting and training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 23 October 1941. This was followed by 3 PRC 4 November, 1 AAS 20 February 1942, 7 AGS 29 April 1942, 26 OTU 19 May 1942, and 150 Squadron on 25 August 1942. The following month Robert sadly lost his life on 19 September. |
