Miscellaneous Information
Stanniforth was born on 15 November 1908 at Sec.10-10-Manitoba. Both parents were born in London, England and his mother died in 1925, and his father is now a pensioner. He had brothers Alfred, and Thomas and a third, Ronald was in the Canadian Forestry Corps. overseas. He also had a sister Winnifred. Stanniforth went to Pearson School, Ontario 1918- 1925 (Grade 6, High School Entrance). He worked at several odd jobs as a labourer between 1925 -1937. He then had a trucking business 1937-1943, and between 1939-1943 he worked in maintenance for the Highways Department, Fort William, Ontario. For sport he enjoyed hunting and Scouting and he also worked as a chauffeur, truck driver, motor mechanic and tractor operator. |
Stanniforth enlisted on 25 October 1943 and after training embarked from Halifax on 20 July 1944. He arrived at 3 RCAF(PRC) 28 July 1944, 22 OTU 19 September 1944. He was killed three months later. |
