Miscellaneous Information
John was born in Murrayville, British Columbia on 8 April 1920. His father, born in New Brunswick had been a Lumberman, pre-deceased John and his mother was born in Washington USA. The schools John had attended were Langley Prairie, Public. 1927-1934 (High School Entrance) and Langley High 1934-1938 (University Matric). He also went to U.B.C 1938-1940. The sports he took part in were soccer, badminton, swimming and shooting. Between October 1938-March 1939 John worked in Editorial for Vancouver News and Herald, as a Salesman for three months and then as an unloader at Consolidated Mining and Smelting for three months from October 1940. |
John enlisted on 26 February 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 1 May 1942 arriving at 3 PRC on 12 May. He then went through 9 (0) AFU 5 June 1942, 14 OTU 7 July 1942, 16 OTU 4 October 1942, 1660 CU 20 November 1942 and finally 9 Squadron on 28 December 1942. Just three weeks later John sadly lost his life. |
