Miscellaneous Information
Born 8 June 1920, Winnipeg. His father John was born in Oban, Scotland and emigrated to Canada. He joined the Canadian Army and served in France in WWI, he was severely wounded on 21 August 1918 and medically discharged. He died on 14 May 1968. Iain had enlisted on 28 October 1937 as a fitter. He was allowed to leave the service to look after his father after he was taken seriously ill, he re-joined on 3 January 1941. |
Harvie, Bond, Moore, Fraser and one unidentified body (which later was found to be Heinrich) were originally interred in Schleswig Cemetery with full military honours. They were re-interred in Kiel Cemetery in 1947 along with some remains found at the scene of the crash following excavation which were of unknown identity and were taken as belonging to Thomas and Eastwood and were placed a joint grave. |
