Miscellaneous Information
Born 1920 Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire. Educated at King Charles I Grammar School for Boys, Kidderminster. Subsequently an articled pupil with the Kidderminster Borough Treasurer. He volunteered for the R.A.F. at the outbreak of war but was not accepted. In 1940 joined the Royal Artillery (Army Service No. 1605106) but was transferred to the R.A.F. on 7th June 1941. Trained in America and Canada, then with 1661 H.C.U. at R.A.F. Winthorpe, from which he was posted to 61 Squadron on 25th April 1943. His first operation was on 23-24 May 1943. He flew operations throughout June & July before being killed in action.on 3 August. |
He is also remembered on the memorial at St Bartholemews Church, Aerley Kings. |
