Miscellaneous Information
Leslie was born on 25 January 1921 at Edmonton, Alberta. His father worked as a Guard and both he and his mother were born in England. He had two brothers Lawrence and Thomas. The schools he attended were Holm School 1928-1935 and again 1935-1938. The sports he enjoyed taking part in were baseball, swimming and skating. Leslie was a farm labourer during 1938 for S. MacGregor, of Pibroch, Alberta. During 1940 he was employed at the Alberta Box Company in the lumberyard and also during 1940 as a roofing contractor for S. March. |
He enlisted on 14 November 1940 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 22 September 1941, arriving at 3 PRC on 7 October 1941. He then continued to 20 OTU on 4 November 1941, 27 OTU 6 January 1942, 25 OTU 29 January 1942, 420 Squadron 26 May 1942 and 50 Squadron 20 June 1942. Sadly Leslie was then to lose his life a few weeks later on 30 July 1942. |
