Miscellaneous Information
Clarence was born on 13 April, 1921 at St.Martins, New Brunswick, the son of Harold Stanley Flewelling and Annie Irene Flewelling (Osborne) of Allston, Massachusetts, USA. His parents were both born in New Brunswick and his father was manager of a grocery store. He had two brothers, Roy and Eugene. He attended school in the USA: Frederick A Whitney, in Allston, Massachusetts 1927-1930, Andrew Jackson, Allston, 1930-1933, William H Taft, Brighton, Massachusetts 1933-1934 and Boston Commerce High 1936-1939. His sport interests were just a little badminton and track. Between 1936-1939 he had been in the Boston High School cadets as a 2nd. Ltnt. He worked for Colpitts Tourist Company in Boston as a clerk, 1939-1942 and Clarence then enlisted on 18 June I942. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 16 July 1943, arriving at 3PRC on 23 July 1943. He then went on to 3(0)AFU on 10 August 1943, 14 OTU on 7 September 1943, 51 Base 5 January 1944 and 619 Squadron 6 May 1944. Clarence sadly lost his life on 22 June 1944. |
Although Clarence loved his formative years in America, he was a Canadian citizen. |
