Miscellaneous Information
Dickenson was born on 30 August 1919 at Galt, Ontario. Both parents were born in Ontario. His father, a florist, was born at Drayton and his mother at Listowel. (His father is shown as Lt. Col. D. Fletcher). The schools he attended were Manchester, 1924-1933, Galt Collegiate 1933-1937, (matric). He also went to the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, 1937-1939. His sport interests were hockey, baseball and swimming. Dickenson worked for D. Fletcher (presumably his father) as a grower from 1939 onwards until enlistment (occupation also shown as florist). |
He enlisted on 22 July 1940 and after training was sent to the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 28 September 1941. He went on to 2 S.S. 10 October 1941, 1 AAS 7 February 1942, 23 OTU on 17 March 1942. Dickenson sadly lost his life on 28 August 1942 |
