Miscellaneous Information
Kenneth was born on 15 December 1917 at Brantford, Ontario. His father was born in Oshawa, Ontario and worked as a machinist (died in 1943) and his mother was born in Brantford. He had two brothers, Norman and John and sisters Grace and Margaret. The schools he attended were King George Public, Brantford 1925-1934 (Academic) and Brantford Collegiate Institute & Vocational School 1934-1936. (High school entrance and Junior Matric). He enjoyed most sports but excelled at hockey and baseball and played hocley for a number of teams including Junior Lions Senior Team, Québec Senior Hockey League and Ontario Hockey Association, Oshawa. Kenneth worked odd jobs between 1936- 1941. He was then a Drill hand at General Motors, Oshawa, Ont 1941-1942 and a lathe hand 1942-1943 at the Cockshutt Plow Co. Brantford. |
Kenneth enlisted on 24 June 1943 and after training embarked from Halifax on 5 March 1944. He arrived at 3 RCAF (PRC ) 15 March 1944, 10 OTU 28 March 1944, 41 Base 16 June 1944 and 765 Squadron 17 August 1944. |
His nickname was Ebby. This was his eigth operational sortie. He was commissioned on the very day he was reported missing. |
