Miscellaneous Information
Frederick was born on 13 May 1909 at Toronto. His father was born in London, England and was an RCOC Officer, his mother was born at Toronto. He had a brother Ross Esmond, and six sisters, Lucy, Grace, Dora, Hilda, Margaret and Anna. He attended Victoria School, Kingston, 1914-1922, and Kingston Collegiate Institute 1922-1927. He was also at the Howard Smith paper mills and Crabtree Mills. Frederick was a temporary Guard between 1933 and 1937 at the Department of Justice, Kingston. Then was at C.M. & S. Co. Ltd., Goldfields, Saskatchewan as a radio operator 1937-1941. Frederick then enlisted on 23 May 1941. The sports he enjoyed were rugby, hockey,baseball and basketball. |
After enlisting and training, he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 13 March 1942, arriving at 3 PRC on 24 March, he continued to 9(0)AFU on 24 April 1942, 24 OTU 2 June 1942, 12 squadron 20 September 1942, 150 Squadron 28 December 1942 and 166 Squadron 26 January 1943. Sadly Frederick then lost his life from 166 Squadron on 29 March 1943. |
