Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born on 8 March 1922 at Haileybury, Ontario. His father worked as a bricklayer and was born at Carlisle, England and his mother was born at Barking, Essex, England. He attended Rectory Street school 1928-1931, and Chasley Avenue School 1931-1937. He also attended H.B. Beal Technical school at night classes on Aviation. All schools were in London, Ontario. The sports he enjoyed were skating, swimming, and hunting and building model aircraft. Thomas worked at London Printing & Lithography Co. Ltd. from 1940 until enlisting on 21 April 1941. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 13 March 1942. He arrived at 3PRC on 24 March 1942, 3 AGS 28 May 1942, and 15 OTU on 27 June 1942. Sadly Thomas was to lose his life on 17 September 1942 at the age of 20. |
