Louis was born at Lebret, Saskatchewan on 17 October 1920. His father was born in Manitoba and he worked for CNR as a bridge builder, and his mother was born in Saskatchewan. He went to school at Lebret Public 1928-1937 followed by Lebret High 1937-1939 (all subjects grades 9-10). He then did Youth Training 1940 on Aero Engine Mechanics. His sport interests were softball, boxing, swimming and hockey. In 1938 Louis spent time farming for Jim McDonald at Lebret and the following year, 1939, helping another farmer with the harvesting. Louis was a Youth Training Student. |
He enlisted on 10 September 1940 and after completing his training was sent to the U.K. He arrived at 3PRC on 20 February 1942 then went on to 415 Sqn 3 March 1942, 1654 CU 12 October 1942 and 106 Squadron 13 May 1943. Shortly after arrival, on 30 May 1943, Louis was sadly to lose his life. |
