| His older Brother Major Ralph Herman Daughney DSO, of 'C' Company, The North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment, 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade, was killed 10 August 1944 in France. On D-Day he led his men to capture the Coastal Artillery HQ at Tailleville. From his DSO Citation: '[his] unflinching decisiveness and personal disregard of danger inspired his junior officers and men into performing an excellent job on their first action under fire'. Wounded 13 June, recovered, and then killed 10 August. |
