Miscellaneous Information
Henry was born on 15 November 1924 in Scarboro, Ontario. His father was born in East York, Ontario and worked for Wilson’s Cartage and his mother, who was deceased by the time of Henry's enlistment, was born in New York, USA. Henry attended William Burgess school 1930-1938 (Matric Course) and East York Collegiate Institute 1948-1941 (Industrial course, grade XI). His hobby was woodwork and he occasionally played baseball. Henry worked for Bauscholomb, Toronto, as an Optical Mechanic, 1941-1942 when he then enlisted. |
After enlisting on 16 September 1942 and his early training he embarked from Halifax on 24 November 1943, arriving at 3 PRC in the U.K. on 2 December 1943. He went on to 1(0) AFU 21 March 1944, 30 OTU 9 May 1944, 11 Base 29 July 1944 and 625 Squadron 29 September 1944. |
