Miscellaneous Information
Charles was born on 15 January 1922 in Sussex New Brunswick. His father, a barber, was born in Alma, New Brunswick and his mother (who pre-deceased him)) was born in St. Stephen New Brunswick. His father lived at Broad Street, St. John. Charles attended St. John the Baptist School, 1928-1936 (General course ) followed by St. Vincent’s Boy’s School 1936-1938 (Grade X), school entrance and Junior Matric. He enjoyed bowling and tennis. Charles worked in his father’s barber shop between 1938-1941 before enlisting on 30 September 1941 at Moncton, New Brunswick. |
After training he embarked from Canada 13 March 1942 arriving at 3 PRC on the 24th, 7 AGS 6 June 1942, 29 OTU 7 July 1942, 1654 Conversion Flight 30 September 1942 and 61 Squadron 24 October 1942. |
His wife was born in Cardiff UK in 1919, married in Bournemouth in 1942 and then possibly travelled to Canada at some point as she is found arriving back in England on 4 December 1946 aboard the “Queen Elizabeth”, then aged 27. She eventually returned to live in Wales where she died at the age of 84. She never re-married. |
