Miscellaneous Information
David was born at Pictou Landing , Nova Scotia on 13 July 1923, the son of James Alexander Currie and Rhena Currie (Martin) of Montague, Prince Edward Island. His father was born at Pictou and he worked on a Government boat and his mother was born at Glenn Martin P.E.I. He had four brothers and six sisters. The school he attended was Montague Memorial High, 1929-1940. (Grade 10). He worked for his brother in Montague Service Station 1940-1941 and then became the manager and worked for himself 1941-1942 when he enlisted on 19 November 1942. |
After training he embarked for the U.K. on 24 November 1943, arriving at 3 PRC on 2 December 1943, 14 OTU 11 January 1944, 52 Base. 19 April 1944, 1660 CU 14. At 1944 and 61 Squadron 12 July 1944. David sadly lost his life just a few weeks later on 29 July 1944. |
