Miscellaneous Information
Thurston was born 12 February 1922 on a farm south miles south of Lougheed, Alberta. He attended the country one-room school, Green Valley, completing grade 9. He then completed his grade 12 at the high school in the village of Lougheed. He enlisted at Edmonton, Alberta on 1 September 1942 and undertook his initial training at Claresholm, Alberta and then in Price Albert and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He received his navigator wings at Winnipeg, Manitoba with the rank of Pilot Officer |
