Miscellaneous Information
Born in Punjab, where his father was posted during his time in the Army. His father was in the Royal Flying Corp. In WWI and was shot down twice, injured on the second occasion. Attended Eton from 1934 and went on to drama school after leaving in 1937. Joined the RAFVR on 24/4/40 and, after various training posts he converted to fly the Lancaster with 1667 HCU at Sandtoft and then to 12 Sqn at Wickenby. |

Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off from Wickenby at 2155 hrs detailed to attack targets in Nurnberg. On the outbound flight fell victim to the guns of a Ju88 flown by Hptm Gerhard Raht of 4/NJG3 South West of Bonn near F.F Ida at 0026 hrs. The aircraft crashed on Holzheim and there were no survivors. The aircraft was Hptm Raht's 28th victim. |
