All of his brothers served in the army. Martin lied about his age to enlist sooner. |
He was a replacement rear gunner, the imcumbent (Sgt John Rennie Sutherland) having being ill for the previous 10 days. Sgt Sutherland returned to service and was himself killed on 20th September 1944 in an attack against Munchengladbach |
