Miscellaneous Information
William was born at Sarnia, Ontario on 20 June 1912. His father, who was deceased by the time of William's enlistment, was born at Sarnia and was a dry goods merchant. His mother was born in San Francisco, USA. The schools he attended were Lochiel and London Road between 1920-1926 followed by Sarnia College 1926-1932. He was an Assistant Manager at W.B. Clark Company 1934 -1938 and then became Manager from 1938 onwards (possibly the family business). He enjoyed playing rugby, baseball, track & field and swimming. His hobby was model aeroplanes. He was also a Private serving as a Lewis gunner in the Lambton Regiment, Sarnia, for three years. |
William enlisted on 17 July 1940 at London, Ontario. After training William was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 6 April 1941. He arrived at 3PRC on 20 April 1941, 11 OTU on 26 April 1941 and 12 Squadron on 6 July 1941. William then sadly lost his life on 31 August 1941. |
