Reason for Loss | Iced up and went out of control off Flamborough, Yorkshire. The pilot instructed the crew to bail out but only Sgt Christien complied. The pilot then regained control and the aircraft landed safely at base. Despite an air sea rescue mission, no trace of Sgt Christien was found and he is commemorated on the Runnymede memorial. |
