Miscellaneous Information
Alfred was born at Woodstock, Ontario on 2 September 1919. His father was born in Hamilton, Ontario and worked as a Molder and his mother, who was deceased by the time of Alfred's enlistment, was born at Woodstock. The schools he attended were St.Mary’s Separate School 1924-1932, and Woodstock Collegiate Institute. 1932-1936 (teacher's Matric). He also took an Accountancy Course in banking by Correspondence Course. Alfred’s sport interests were rugby, badminton and golf. He had also spent four years in the Cadet Corps as a youth. He worked at the Dominion Bank, Woodstock as a ledger keeper 1936-1940. Alfred then enlisted on 22 July 1940. |
After training he was sent to the U.K. and arrived at 3 PRC on 20 April 1941 then continued to 2 SS on 28 April, 12 OTU on 31 May 1941, and 12 Squadron on 25 August 1941. Sadly Alfred then lost his life on 11 October 1941. |
