Reason for Loss | At 2128hrs the aircraft took off on bombing operation. F/Sgt Chew had replaced the crews rear gunner Sgt Butler (unknown reason). The aircraft was engaged in a fierce fight and it is believed that the aircraft was shot down by Hptm. Ludwig Meister (Luftwaffe Night Fighter Ace) and it crashed 20km SE Schweinfurt, near to Gerolzhofen |
