Miscellaneous Information
Roy was born on 13 July 1923 at Edmonton, Alberta. (His natural father is actually shown as a Frederick Forceland born Sweden but no other details). His mother is shown as being born in Wales. Roy had a sister Doris Jean. He went to school at McKay Avenue, 1929-1938 (grade 9) and Victoria High 1938-1940 (grade 11). He was also at Alberta College, Dept. of education 1939-1940 where he took part grade 12 and did a Steno course (assume stenography), in 1942. The sports he liked were swimming, skating, tennis and others and he enjoyed art training and advertising experience. Roy worked for the Edmonton Journal 1940-1942 as a Copy Writer. |
After enlisting on 30 September 1942 and finishing his training, he was posted to the U.K., embarking from Halifax on 30 March 1944. He arrived at 3 RCAF PRC on 8 April 1944, 1(0)AFU on 25 April 1944, 14 OTU 30 May 1944, 51 Base 23 August 1944 and 50 Squadron on 2 November 1944. Sadly Roy lost his life on 21 February 1945. |
