Miscellaneous Information
Eugene was born on 23 August 1924 at Windsor, Ontario. Both parents were born at Kozowka, Tarnopol, Austria and his father worked as a night watchman and utility man. He had two brothers, one- Michael - was serving in ground crew overseas with the RCAF, and also Edward. There was also a sister, Helen, who had died prior to Eugene's enlistment. There is a note in his enlistment papers stating that his mother was shown on her birth certificate as Michelena Kreskhoff. The schools he attended were Victoria SS no.3, Sandwich East , Ontario 1929-1939: Windsor Technical school 1939-1940 (4 months) night school, as a Machinist. HIs sport interests were bowling, swimming and hockey and his hobbies, model aircraft and building boats. He worked at Webster Bros, Labadte, Windsor as a spray Painter between July 1939-September 1940. He then worked as an apprentice machinist and tool maker until 1942 when he joined the Chrysler Corporation in Windsor as an Assembly Line Worker for a year until enlisting. |
Eugene enlisted on 4 August 1943 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 10 April 1944 arriving at 3 RCAF (PRC ) on 19 April and going on to 18 OTU on 23 May 1944. Very sadly Eugene, still only nineteen years old , was involved in a flying accident and subsequently lost his life on 27 June 1944. |
