Reason for Loss | Crashed on return at 04:00 into the staff residence for Christ’s Hospital Girls’ High School, Greestone Steps, Lincoln. Miss Edith Catherine Fowle, a 49 year-old French teacher, was also killed in the crash, her body being found by fire fighters trapped in a window casement. She had been overcome by smoke while trying to make her escape. A plaque at Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School commemorates the event and includes the following prayer: "Grant Them Thy Peace. Let Light Perpetual Shine Upon Them". |
