Reason for Loss | Airborne on 30 Jul 1944 from Westcott to carry out a non-operational day cine gun camera exercise with an associated fighter aircraft. During "mock" evasive action, the wings suffered catastrophic failure, broke away from the fuselage and at 15:23 the aircraft crashed near Chardon, 8 km NNW of the Westcott airfield. |
