Last Operation Information
Start Date | 02-03-1943 |
End Date | 03-03-1943 |
Takeoff Station | Langar |
Day/Night Raid | Night (16% moon) |
Operation | Mine laying in French coastal waters |
Reason for Loss | Airborne 18:33 on 2 Feb 1943 from Langar carrying three mines on a mining sortie to Deodar, on the mouth of the Gironde River, France, near Bordeaux. No distress signals were heard, and from other aircraft which took part in the raid, visibility over the target was normal with slight haze. There were practically no defences and flak was very light. |
