Operation | Cross-country exercise |
Reason for Loss | Take off 1355 hrs on cross country training exercise. After 6 hours the starboard engine failed, the prop was feathered, and it is thought the pilot tried a forced landing. At 800 ft he lost control, the plane completed one turn of a flat spin and "crashed heavily" near Cresswell, Worksop. It appears the petrol consumption was higher than planned. Loss time: 2010. All five (RCAF) crew killed |
