Miscellaneous Information
John was born at Aurora, Ontario on 29 July 1911. His father worked as a shoe cutter and both parents were born in Leicester, England. He had one sister, Esther, who had sadly died in 1915. His schooling was at Aurora Public, 1917-1924 and Aurora High 1924-1929 and attained High School Entrance and Junior and Senior Matric. He was also at Queen’s University 1930-1932 where he studied engineering. He was a Corporal in the 12th York Rangers, 1925-1930, a Private at C.O.T.C, Queen’s 1930-1931, RCAF P.P.O 1931-1931 and then a Private in the 48th Highlanders 1934-1935. John’s sport interests were tennis, fishing, running, hockey and skating. He worked for T. Sisman Shoe Company, Aurora as a heel builder 1932-1934, for the Canada Bread Company as a salesman 1934-1935 and finally he joined the Toronto Police Force as a constable 1935 -1940. He then enlisted on 12 December 1940. |
No movements are shown for John apart from 3PRC 26 September 1941 and 20 OTU 4 November 1941. He sadly lost his life on 1 April 1942. |
