Flying Officer Bousfield has taken part, as air gunner, in 28 operational flights. During all these operations, he has shown the greatest courage and keenness in the execution of his duties. Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off from Skellingthorpe at 1826 hrs detailed to attack targets in Koln. Shot down by a night fighter at 2127 hrs crashing into a swamp 1km NW of Hamont (Limburg). The swamp is locally known as "De Papebos". It was deemed to be unsalvageable by the Germans due to it having sunk into the ground. Claimed by Major Werner Sreib of Stab1/NJG1 at 2130 hrs over Hamont. |
