Richard was born on 9 November 1912 at Grimsby, Ontario. His father was born at Dundas, Ontario where he worked as Salesman, and his mother was born in Grimsby. He had a brother Alexander. The school he attended was S.S #3, North Grimsby 1918-1925 followed by Grimsby High, 1925-1929 then Grimsby High School. 1932-1933 (Snr. Matric). Richard also attended the New York School of Interior Decorating from 1934 onwards. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis and swimming. Between 1929-1932 he worked at the Equity Bond Corporation in Hamilton as a clerk, and then Mitchel & McGill, stockbrokers as a bookkeeper 1934-1936. |
Richard enlisted on 18 November 1940 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 18 September 1941, arriving at 3 PRC on 28 September, then continuing to 12 OTU on 21 October 1941, 12 Squadron 31 December 1941, and 25 OTU on 27 May 1942. Sadly Richard then lost his life on 11 September 1942. |
