Miscellaneous Information
Note that the ORB incorrectly states the aircraft serial number as ED420 and this is borne out by the F78 Movement Card, both of which are incorrect. The F78 for ED520 is also incorrect in stating that this aircraft was lost on 2nd February 1943. ED420 was in fact lost from 463 RAAF Squadron on Christmas Eve of the same year. |
Lloyd was born at Hawarden Saskatchewan on 22 March 1920. His father was a farmer born at Walcott, Iowa USA, where his mother was also born. He had a brother, Ralph and two married sisters, Elinor and Lilian. A third sister, Violet, had sadly died in 1933. The school he attended 1926-1934 and again 1934-1936 was at Hawarden, then Lloyd started working with his father, farming until 1940. He then enlisted on 31 January 1941. He took part in many of the sports and for hobbies he liked experimenting with electricity and motors and also book keeping. |
He passed through 16 OTU 7 April 1942, 13 OTU 19 May 1942, 29 OTU 20 July 1942, 1661 CU 9 November 1942 and then 9 Squadron 15 November 1942. Sadly Lloyd was then reported missing on 26 February 1943. |
