Ossett Observer: "Ossett Soldier's Death - Last week we announced the death of Leading-Aircraftman Ashley Beck (29), of the Royal Air Force, son of the late Mr. Arthur Beck and the late Mrs. Fozzard, of the Mason's Arms, Ossett. His tragic death being the result of an accident whilst on active service in this country. The funeral took place at Mortlake Cemetery, the mourners including the widow and members of her family in London, Guardsman Leslie Beck (brother), Mr. and Mrs. L. Greaves (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs. Flower, Ossett (sister), Mrs. J.W, Chapman, Ossett (sister). A Royal Air Force officer, sergeant and a number of the rank and file were present." |
