Miscellaneous Information
Lawrence was born on 11 Jan 1924 at Glen Williams, Ontario. Both parents were born in Ontario- his father at Ancaster and his occupation shown as a knitter and machinist, his mother sadly died in Melfort Saskatchewan back in 1928. He had just one brother, Richard Harpin Beaumont who also served in the RCAF, as well as two half brothers and three half sisters. He attended Glen Williams school 1930-1937 followed by Georgetown High school 1937-1941. He lived all his life in Glen Williams. As he was still a student, he had no occupation but enjoyed PE and playing rugby. |
Lawrence enlisted on 13 January 1942 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 10 April 1944 arriving at 3 RCAF (PRC) on 19 April and then went on to 7(0)AFU 16 May 1944, 20 OTU 20 June 1944, 41 Base 8 September 1944 and 445 Squadron on 22 November 1944. Sadly Lawrence was to lose his life the following year on 3 February 1945. |
