Reason for Loss | The pilot held the aircraft straight and level for as long as possible to give the rest of the crew time to escape. By the time he could do so himself, the aircraft was too low for his parachute to be effective. The rest of the crew survived and became PoW for a short period until liberation. All owe their lives to F/L Bartlett's devotion to duty. |
