Miscellaneous Information
Harold was born 20 January 1921 at Montreal, Quebec. His father worked as a Brakeman for CPR and was born in Rockland, Ontario, his mother was born in Cork, Ireland. She died in January 1943. He had one brother, Morris, who was serving in the Canadian Army in England. The schools Harold attended were Barclay School 1928-1936 (primary) and Commercial High School 1936-1940 (general course, year 9). The sports he took part in were basketball, hockey and tennis. Harold worked as a stockroom clerk for Palmer’s Ltd. 1940-1941 and then as a clerk for CNR railways for a short time until enlisting on 17 October 1941 |
After his early training in Canada , he embarked for the U.K. and arrived at 3 PRC on 12 May 1943. He then went to 14 OTU on 25 May, 1654 CU 14 July 1943, 61 Sqn 19 August 1943 and 630 Squadron on 15 November 1943. Harold sadly lost his life from there on 29 January 1944. |
