Miscellaneous Information
Born 8 December 1921 in Beccles, Suffolk, England. His father worked as a machinist and both parents were born in Suffolk, where they married in 1921. Percy’s father was a Gunner in the R.F.A. in WW1, enlisting in 1914. He was discharged, sick in 1919 and awarded the Silver War Badge. Percy attended Earl Kitchener School 1928-1936 and then transferred to Danforth Technical, 1936-1940 with High School Entrance standing. He registered in a four year Industrial course specialising in printing (equivalent to Junior Matric). He worked as a printing press man at Globe Envelopes 1940-1942. |
Percy enlisted on 29 January 1942 and after training embarked for the U.K. He arrived at 3 PRC on 24 May 1943, 11 (P)AFU, 15 June 1943, 26 OTU on 21 August 1943, and eventually 626 Squadron on 17 -March-1944. |
Percy was involved in hockey, baseball, swimming and track events. |
