Miscellaneous Information
Born on 28 December 1915 in Nanton, Alberta. His mother died in 1921. Both parents were born in USA. His father was a farmer and Ned had four brothers, Jerald, Ted, Edward and John. Also three sisters, Katie, Frances and Margaret. Ned went to the Public School, Skyeglen 1923-1931where he gained grade 8, and Okotoks High School, 1931-32 grade 10. He worked for his father until enlisting on 26 October 1943. |
After his early training Ned embarked on 16 June 1944 and arrived at 3 PRC on 25 June. This was followed by 18 OTU on 18 July 1944, 11 Base 5 October 1944 and 166 Squadron on 19 December 1944. He lost his life two weeks later |

Reason for Loss | Hit by anti-aircraft fire over the target, sustaining serious damage. The crew bailed out over France. The air gunner is thought to have struck the tail plane as he made his exit. The survivors were back home in a matter of 3 days. |
