Miscellaneous Information
Edward was born 11 March 1911 in New York. His father was born in Vienna, Austria, a former hotel manager and his mother was born in Kiev, Russia (both had become American citizens). His mother was living in Beverley Hills. The schools Edward attended were Edward Devotion, Brookline, Mass. 1917-1922. Worcester Academy , Worcester, Mass. 1922-1926 then Lake Forest Academy, Illinois 1926-1927. His sport interests were many including football, swimming, golf, hunting and fishing. Edward travelled in showbusiness for two years, then worked as a theatrical agent for himself, 1929-1934 booking Vaudeville Acts. He then worked at Columbia Studios, Hollywood, 1934-1935, and as a stage manager in Fort Worth, Texas., 1935-1937. He then worked for himself as garage manager 1937 onwards in South La Brea, Los Angeles. |
Edward enlisted on 15 November 1941 (before the United States entered the war, and in so doing, risked his citizenship). After training was posted to the U.K., arriving at 3 PRC 29 May 1942, 7 AGS 22 July 1942, 30 OTU 18 August 1942, 1656 CU 31 January 1943 and 12 Squadron 13 March 1943. It was from here, one month later, that Edward sadly lost his life on 13 April 1943. |
