Born 10 December 1921, Rotherham. Arthur's mother died on 28 April 1937 in Rotherham. His father Phillip was living in Brownhills, Staffs in 1939 and is shown as being a Colliery Supervisor. He married Clara Hall in 1942 and they lived in High Street, Brownhills. |

Reason for Loss | Coned by searchlights, hit by flak from several batteries, both land and marine, and crashed in the target area near the village of St. Pere en Retz at 23.41 hrs. The crew were initially buried in the local cemetery but were re-interred in 1946. The villagers erected a memorial and commemorate the crash every year. The crew had been posted in on 25 March 1943 and this was their first op. |
