Reason for Loss | Airborne 19:03 on 22 Mar 1944 from Grimsby to bomb a target in Frankfurt. Other crews reported ground defence was moderate to intense and enemy aircraft were much in evidence. Hit by Flak while on the bombing run and within seconds was engulfed by flames. The aircraft exploded in the air and crashed a short distance north east of Bergen-Enkheim, 7 km NE of Frankfurt. |
