Miscellaneous Information
Allan was born on 21 April 1923 at Elnora, Alberta. His father was a farmer and both parents were born in Norway. Allan was one of three children having a brother Orville Sydney and sister Margaret Verna. He went to Cranson Dale School in Huxley 1929-1939 taking ten subjects (grade ten) and again between 1940-1942 gaining his Junior Matric. He helped out on his father's farm while he was a student. The sports he enjoyed were softball and skating and his favourite hobby was art. |
Enlisting on 30 October 1942 in Calgary and after early training, he embarked from Halifax for the U.K. on 26 August 1943. After arrival at 3 PRC on 2 September 1943 he went through 18 OTU, 21 September 1943, 1656 HCU 10 December 1943 and 166 Squadron 29 March 1944. He lost his life almost two months later. |
His wife Joan re-married in 1945 and their daughter Olea was adopted by Joan's father and step-mother. |
