Reason for Loss | Whitley P4958 crashed at the end of the runway at Linton on Ouse Airfield. It would be later in the night after the fire had been put out that the bombs on the aircraft were being removed to be transported to 92MU when at least one exploded (thought to be a 250lb semi armour-piercing bomb). AC2 Griffiths died as a result of the explosion along with 4 other members of the ground crew. |
