Reason for Loss | Possibly killed in an air raid while on leave in London. His body was never found. He was initially posted as AWOL and then as a deserter. His friends, with whom he was on leave in London, supposed in "They Shall Grown Not Old" that he could have decided to become a civilian again. The fact that his name is inscribed on the Runnymede Memorial suggests that the authorities concluded he had been killed even in the absence of his body. |
